Supercars have become a common sight on Indian roads lately. However, a decade ago, that was not the case. Spotting an exotic car on the road was actually a rare sight back then. Not everyone who buys an expensive car is able to maintain it properly, and we have come across several such examples in the past. Some of these cars also get into trouble with the authorities and end up in impound yards. Here, we have one such video where a multi-crore Audi R8 supercar is rotting in the impound yard of a police station.
The video has been shared by SRK Entertainer on his Instagram page. In the video, we see an Audi R8 supercar lying in the corner of a plot. It looks like the car has been lying there for a very long time. The door handles on the car look damaged, and the tyres appear flat as well.
The car seen here is finished in black, but since it is parked outside, the paint has started to fade in places and no longer has its original gloss. We also see bird droppings on the roof and other panels of the car.
It doesn’t look like the car has suffered too much damage to the exterior panels. The windscreen, engine cover, bonnet, and window glass all appear intact. The interior of the car is likely covered in dust due to the location where it has been lying.
The exact details of the place where this car was spotted are not known. The reason behind abandoning this rare supercar is also unclear. It should be noted that there are other cars lying in the same plot as the Audi R8, but they are not as rare or expensive as the supercar itself.
We checked the comments section of the video and realised that the car is lying in a police impound yard in Tamil Nadu. According to the comments, the car is parked at the impound yard of the DC office in Coimbatore. It appears that the car was seized. It doesn’t look like the car was involved in any crash. Our next assumption is that the owner of the car may have been involved in some criminal activity, and as part of the investigation, the authorities seized the vehicle.

The car seen here is registered in Delhi. It is also possible that the owner was using the car in Tamil Nadu without paying the applicable RTO tax, and the authorities seized the vehicle for tax evasion.
Whatever the reason may be, it is a sad sight, as Audi R8s are extremely rare in our country now. Many users online were asking about the reason and location of the car with the intention of buying and restoring the vehicle.
We really hope someone manages to get the car out of its misery, restore it, and bring back its former glory. The Audi R8 was available with a 4.2-litre V8 engine that generates 420 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque. A band new Audi R8 used to cost around 3 crore, ex-showroom. A V10 version of the R8 was also available in the market, but we assume that this is the V8 variant.
